Stained Glass Cross

These tissue paper stained glass crosses are one of my very favorite holiday crafts.  They are the perfect craft to brighten up your windows and make your home cheery for the Easter season.  These crosses are very easy for the youngest children to help prepare and so beautiful that they’ll keep older kids interested too.

So simple.  So beautiful!

Supplies:

a roll of clear contact paper

several cheery colors of tissue paper

scissors

clear tape

Choose a few cheery colors of tissue paper and cut into approximately 1 inch squares.  Set aside.

Cut out two pieces of contact paper, approximately 8″ x 10″ or whatever size you would like your stained glass cross to be.

Take the paper backing off of one piece and place it sticky side up on the table.  (Reserve the second piece of contact paper for when you’ve finished applying the tissue paper.

Place individual squares of tissue paper onto the sticky contact paper and smooth down.  Overlap the edges of each piece just a bit so that there will not be any empty spaces.

Once you’ve covered enough of the contact paper, CAREFULLY press the second piece of contact paper onto the tissue paper covered piece – sticky sides together, smoothing out any air pockets as you go.  This is the trickiest part.  Likely your kids will need adult help with this step.

Now just cut out the shape of a cross and you’re done.

Use clear tape to hang it up on a window and let the sunshine stream through!

Enjoy for the rest of the season, pack it away and take it out again next Easter, though the color will fade a bit each year.
